With PSLE less than 6 months away, it’s crunch time!

Most schools have finished covering the science syllabus, or, at least down to their last chapter before your child’s first Semestral Assessment. How should one revise through four years worth of materials when time is short and school teachers are going crazy with the giving of an insane number of practice papers for homework?

Be systematic in the study! Start with the upper block as it carries about 70% weightage. Another useful tool is a syllabus checklist (such as the sample below) of everything that is to be known. Use the list as a guide to make sure that your child is familiar with all the key concepts and keywords in the individual topics. If time permits, attempt a variety of practice questions (factual, experiment-based, constructing graphs, etc) and run through some basic answering techniques at the same time. Last but not least, make sure that he/she gets plenty of rest before the paper. Performance depends largely on the state of the mind?

All the best, parents!
